MISSION | HISTORY | CLIENTS
Jiffy Air Tool was founded in 1949 by Kelly
(Pop) Pettit in sunny Southern California.
Kelly and his sons originally manufactured tools for the automotive
market. However it wasn’t long before California’s
rapidly expanding aerospace industry discovered Jiffy
Air Tool products.
Emphasis was moved from the automotive industry to airframe assembly
and aerospace needs.
Modern methods of manufacturing and distribution, plus prompt factory
service enabled Jiffy Air Tool to become one of the major companies
in the pneumatic tool industry. Supply and demand for our aerospace
assembly tools are sold around the world.
In 1977 Jack Pettit Sr., son of Pop Pettit, opened his own company,
United Air Tool Inc. in Carson City Nevada and began
production of aerospace assembly tools.
In 1978 Jack Pettit Jr. was elected President of United
Air Tool Inc. and became the third generation of the family to produce tools for Aerospace
Industry. Jack Jr. started a modernization program that continues
to this day. A new state of the art factory was built in Carson City
Nevada with a modern computer aided design studio for future tool needs
and the latest computer controlled machinery for production demand.
After running the business as United Air Tool for over 25 years Jack
Pettit Jr. CEO and Margaret Buckingham Vice President discussed the
possibility of changing the name of the company back to Jiffy Air Tool
Inc.
Jack Jr. quotes “I had owned the name for many years and it
made me very happy to return the name of
our family business back to Jiffy Air Tool.“
Jiffy
is a Registered Trademark of United Air Tool
